I've never run a marathon before let alone an ultra-marathon, but hey, I have been training for it and I have got to admit it took a while to get my head around the idea (or my legs) but the challenge was there and I thought, why not! I'm not looking for a fast time just looking to survive and cross the finish line 100k later (64 miles in old money). The race is over two days 26/27th June 2021 starting at Kirkharle and finishing at Bamburgh Castle.
In memory of my father John Chetwynd who was a resident of Eothen Homes Wallsend from 2018 to 2020.
The reason I'm doing this is to raise funds for Eothen Homes Limited, the dementia care home where my father spent the last two years of his life being cared for unconditionally.
Eothen care for elderly persons by providing appropriate accommodation, making sure residents live in surroundings that are warm, inviting and equipped with everything they need. They are recognised as individuals whose dignity is respected at all times and who are encouraged to be as independent as possible, to raise funds for the home to help provide essential support and equipment for both staff and residents.
Nobody can really understand what dementia is all about until you know someone who has it, how it changes their personality and they become so frightened and vulnerable.....

Eothen Homes were fantastic with Dad, almost like being in a hotel and with a bigger family group around. Lovely place to visit and stay and fantastic staff too.
