Alexander Blewitt

22nd May 1974 - 12th July 2022

48 years of age.

Alex Blewitt, 48 died July 2022 in hospital after a short illness. Alex was born in Southampton and was married to Amy for 22 years with 3 children Max (2001-2002), Sam & Holly.

Alex was loved and respected by all in his tech community but especially his loving family who will miss him dearly. Alex has left a hole in our lives, he was full of love and humour, with his cartoon ties and his ‘dad’ jokes.

Immediate family flowers only others please donate to one of the two charities that were very close to Alex’s heart, the Ronald McDonald House charity that looked after us during Max’s life and MK Hospital cancer care unit that looked after Alex during his leukaemia treatment in 2008/2009.

Alex.....what can I say....I think there is only one thing, I have to do one last time.... *grin*
You are so much more than the IT and all the knowledge you learnt...you saw people for who they are, you cared, you'd talk, you were just you xx Thank you for being around when I was growing up xx

Alex was a brilliant technologist and a great friend. He has been an exceptional InfoQ Editor, and we could always count on him to provide thoughtful and insightful feedback for both InfoQ and QCon. We were all so sorry to hear the news, and are grateful that we got to catch up with Al, Amy and the kids in Toronto not so long ago.
I remember being extremely small, watching Al and Bob play Paperboy on the Commodore 64, and thinking how extremely exciting and high-tech it all was. It very likely nudged me into the career I have now, so I'll raise a glass to that! Thank you cousins, much appreciated.
All our love to everyone, from The Crossland family (John, Jack, Lily and Adam.

Alex and I first met as schoolmates at sixth-form college, discovered we both share an appetite for science, technology and spicy food, and remained friends ever since.
I can't believe he's gone. I'll always remember Al as the brilliant, irreverent, brainy, warm, large, larger than life, cheekily smiling, fun-loving, outspoken, kind and generous human being that he was. Goodbye my friend, and thank you for all the fond memories.
