I was delighted that Geoffrey became my stepbrother when my father James Liney married Geoffrey's mother Freda in December 1959. Unfortunately we spent too little time together, since Noel and I came to Canada in 1966. We are so glad that he and Allison have enjoyed these past years together with their loving family and in their Church community. Love from Noel and Jill

Geoffrey was a very dear friend. A man of great talent, warmth and humour. I shall greatly miss his presence in my life.

It was a pleasure knowing Geoffrey, whether as a colleague or as a friend. Witty, kind and with a wicked sense of humour, he will be much missed.

What good times we had at the shared lunches and dinners - and then there was Fire In The Mountains, with Libby organising the dance floor while the rest of us belted out Geoffrey's specially curated music from the South. And if you called Phil's fiddle a violin......oh dear oh dear oh dear! Have a good rest now Geoffrey, you did us all proud, and will be thoroughly missed.

I have known Geoff since 1960, when I first went to Leicester, which makes him my oldest friend. That friendship brings many valued memories, and he will be sorely missed.

A great benefit of living in Eve Road was the frequent encounters with Geoffrey : always wise, witty and uplifting. We would have splendid exchanges where he pretended that we were Secret Agents on a special mission. Latterly, he had a walking frame which he explained disguised an array of useful gadgets and lethal weapons. I miss these flights of fantasy, but know that the nation is a better, happier and indeed safer place for having Geoffrey with us.

So sad to hear the loss of Geoffrey, a lovely man. Rest in peace. Love Chris and Peter

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad, father-in-law, and grandfather. Your tributes to him on Facebook were beautiful and spoke very clearly of your love. I have fond memories of the rare occasions I met Geoffrey.
