When serving with Katharine on the board of governors at Sticklands School, I was amazed by her generosity with her time and the energy with which she worked for the school. She will be a huge loss to the local community and of course to her family, and I personally will miss her very much as a very kind person and a good friend.

Goodbye dear Katharine - a remarkable lady, who did so much and was a wonderful force for good. Martin was very glad that he saw you quite often when growing up, even though he was only a second cousin! It is so lovely to have family in West Dorset to visit from the suburban east of the county and there have been many happy gatherings on the beach and at the farm, which we remember with fondness. We send our love to Daniel, Richard, Alex, Sarah and all the family and our heartfelt condolences. Martin, Helen, Susanna, Alex & Edward Schuster Bruce x

Am sorry we can't be with you tomorrow to remember Kate, a very special lady. I have very fond memories of meeting Kate for the first time, how welcoming and inclusive she was, as well as having a great sense of humour! Her love of Sydney Farm and agriculture shone through and it was slightly worrying over the years how her knowledge of agriculture began to outshine those of us that studied it! A remarkable lady who will be greatly missed. Much love Mat & Tamsin Raymond

Dear Katharine, it is with deep sadness to be sending this but we will always remember you for your dedication and passion for all that you did in so many ways but especially your highland cattle, you truly loved them and knew them all by name, such a rarity these days! We will miss you!
Our thoughts and love are with Daniel, Rick, Alex & family at this very sad and difficult time

Katharine,
What a wonderful page of tributes to you, and how proud I am to be somewhat part of the Smith family. I will never be able to thank you for the bridge you built for me; how warm and welcoming you were even under difficult circumstances. I strangely remember the delicious artichokes you cooked, and your amazing potato quiche, even if it wasn't ready until 10pm! You were evidently fiercely independent, juggling a million things - multiple jobs, family, animals - yet you did it all. I have no doubt you will live on in the green fields and blue skies of Dorset. I'll come and visit you soon.
Much love, Alex xx

Such a tragic loss of someone so kind, caring and intuitive. Always helping others and striving to make the world a better place. You will be missed so much Katharine and I hope where ever you are there is as much love and warmth surrounding you as you gave to so many. Sending our love and condolences to Daniel, Rick, Alex and family. xx

Katharine, you are really missed. You were always so kind and compassionate, with such a good sense of humour.
The small professional moments that we had together, shone a light on what a genuinely lovely person you were. I will always smile when remembering the times that you would firmly but gently steer us back on topic. It won't be the same without you, but we will always have you in our thoughts.
My heart goes out to all of her loved ones. May it get easier as each day goes by.

the love will have been enough; ... Even memory is not necessary for love. There is a land of the living and a land of the dead, and the bridge is love. The only survival, the only meaning.

It's so hard to find the words to express my shock and sadness at losing someone I've known for most of my life in such tragic circumstances. Since being your bridesmaid aged 8 you have a remained a true family friend in every sense of the word. Your family has shown mine so much love, friendship and kindness over the last 35 or so years and now we share in their grief. My heart breaks for Daniel, Rick & Alex as they adjust to life without you. Sending much love.

Katharine,
It is due to your kindness and generosity, that I have been able to follow my dreams. You gave me an amazing job and you were the best boss I ever had and a wonderful person through and through. I learnt a lot from you and enjoyed every moment of it. I still laugh at your stories of escaping cows and regularly retell them.
I offer my condolences to Daniel and the Smith family.
Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and everyone else, my gratitude is immense.

This is such a tragic loss to all who knew and loved this truly wonderful person. No longer being able to picture you smiling alongside your beautiful cows is heartbreaking, my special cousin Katse, with whom I shared a birthday. What a lot of joy you brought to us. Heartfelt condolences and so much love to Daniel, Rick and Alex. We are thinking about you all the time. Andrew, Nicky, James, Tom and Grace. And Jill and Alison.

This is something I never expected I would be writing. I pray that Katharine is happy and at peace now.
The Tea House will never be the same without her dedication, hard work and humour. We will do our best to carry on and realise all of the dreams Katharine had for The Tea House.
When she took over from her formidable aunt Christina, she settled in quickly and learnt on the job - working longer hours than anyone else. Christina was a hard act to follow but Katharine took to the role like duck to water.
I am still stunned and will miss the phone calls and emails sorting out whatever needed sorting. And in my personal life she was a great support when I lost my mother and needed time to sort affairs.
I can only offer my deepest sympathy to Daniel, Alex and Richard.
"How swiftly the days pass! It makes us realize how short are the years we have left. Friends enjoy the cherry blossoms together on spring mornings and then they are gone, carried away like the blossoms by the winds of impermanence, leaving nothing but their names. Although the blossoms have scattered, the cherry trees will bloom again with the coming of spring, but when will those people be reborn? The companions with whom we composed poems praising the moon on autumn evenings have vanished with the moon behind the shifting clouds. Only their mute images remain in our hearts. The moon has set behind the western mountains, yet we shall compose poetry under it again next autumn. But where are our companions who have passed away?"

Katharine,
Your sudden departure is still difficult for us to assimilate. There's no words to describe the loss we are feeling at The Tea House.
We all felt privileged with the opportunity we had by working with you and to have had the chance to get to know the wonderful person behind the boss.
Let the great experiences we had alongside live on to honour your memory and we will continue to do our best work here in order to preserve your legacy and professionalism at the shop.
We really hope that Daniel and all the Smith family can find peace and comfort in this time of grief, strength for the days ahead and courage to find closure.
Love

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
